FAQ

Lorin Shapiro is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Beverly Hills, CA. She helps couples with relationship and fertility issues, and works with individuals on personal development, sex addiction, sexual diversity, and trauma.

What do you charge per session?

Please contact me by phone or email to discuss fees.  I do hold a few slots open for sliding scale based on income and ability to pay.

Can I do a combination of individual and couples therapy?

I do not see a couple and the individuals at the same time.  It is important that each member of a couple has his or her own dedicated therapist that will prioritize them.  It may happen that will I request to see each member of a couple individually, or an individual may feel it necessary to bring their partner into therapy on occasion, but these are specific and time-limited instances.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not take insurance directly.  However, I can offer you a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, as many companies do offer coverage for out-of-network providers.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our weekly appointment time is reserved specifically for you and will not be offered to anyone else seeking treatment.  Appointment cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance without incurring a fee.  If you cancel fewer than 48 hours in advance for any reason, you will be financially responsible for the full fee.  If I can reschedule you for another time within that week, I will not charge for the cancelled session.

How often should I attend therapy?

Therapy tends to be most effective when you are coming in once a week, but based on your symptoms and therapeutic goals, we may decide it is best to meet more or less often.

How do I make my first appointment?

Send me a message through the Contact page, call me at (310) 712-1971, or email me at lorinshapiromft@gmail.com to set up an appointment.  I usually like to talk briefly over the phone prior to our first meeting to get a sense of what you are looking for.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Bring yourself, all of the required paperwork filled out, whatever form of payment you are choosing (cash, check or Venmo), and a willingness to explore!
